College Park, MD (Sports Network) - Obi Egekeze kicked a 20-yard field goal with six seconds remaining to give the Maryland Terrapins a 27-24 win over the NC State Wolfpack in ACC action at Byrd Stadium.
Da'Rel Scott ran for 163 yards and a touchdown for Maryland (6-2, 3-1 ACC). Chris Turner completed only 9-of-20 passes, finishing with 126 yards and a TD.
For NC State (2-6, 0-4), Russell Wilson completed 18-of-28 passes for 187 yards and two TDs.
The Wolfpack opened the game with a seven-minute drive, which ended with Andre Brown crossing the goal line on a one-yard run.
But the Terps responded with a lengthy drive of their own (9 plays, 66 yards), capped by Turner's 13-yard touchdown pass to Dan Gronkowski.
NC State got the ball back and again drove all the way down the field, with Wilson finding Jarvis Williams for a four-yard touchdown pass.
Maryland made it a 14-10 game on Egekeze's 47-yard field goal with just under 12 minutes remaining in the second quarter.
The Wolfpack lost a fumble on the first play of the ensuing possession, which set up Maryland with a 1st-and-10 at the NC State 24. Four plays later, Davin Meggett scored on a one-yard run.
NC State kicker Josh Czajkowski tied the score at 17 on a 28-yard field goal as time expired in the first half.
The Terps got right down to business on their opening possession of the second half, with Scott busting loose for a 24-yard touchdown run.
Once again, NC State put together a long drive, which was capped by Wilson's seven-yard touchdown pass to Darrell Davis.
Both offenses were held off the scoreboard for the next few possessions, until the Terps put together a huge 15-play, 89-yard drive late in the fourth quarter. That set up Egekeze's game-winning field goal.
The Terps were impressive on the ground, piling up 203 yards (5.6 ypc) as a team.
