Recap: Boston College vs. Notre Dame

Chestnut Hill, MA (Sports Network) - Montel Harris rushed for 120 yards on 23 carries, as the Boston College Eagles grabbed a 17-0 victory over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in a non-league affair at Alumni Stadium.

Chris Crane only completed 9-of-22 passes for Boston College (6-3), and finished with just 79 yards and one score.

Jimmy Clausen was dreadful for Notre Dame (5-4), throwing for just 226 yards on 26-of-46 passing. Clausen was also intercepted four times in the loss, and sacked once.

The Eagles took a 3-0 late in the first quarter when Steve Aponavicius connected on a 27-yard field goal.

Boston College's defense got involved in the scoring in the second quarter when Paul Anderson intercepted Jimmy Clausen and return the ball 76 yards for a touchdown.

The Eagles pushed their lead to 17-0 early in the third quarter when Crane connected with Brandon Robinson for a nine-yard scoring strike.

The defense did the rest for Boston College, as the unit did not allow Notre Dame to fine the scoreboard.

This was the first shutout by either team in the all-time series which began during the 1975 campaign.
