Sports Network | November 15, 2008

Fresno, CA (Sports Network) - Tom Brandstater ran for a pair of touchdowns to lead the Fresno State Bulldogs to a 24-17 victory over the New Mexico State Aggies in Western Athletic Conference play.

Brandstater, the team's quarterback, passed for 146 yards in the win for Fresno State (6-4, 3-3 WAC), which got 101 rushing yards from Anthony Harding.

Chase Holbrook completed 27-of-38 passes for 192 yards and one touchdown in the loss for New Mexico State (3-7, 1-5).

Brandstater broke a 17-17 tie with 10:38 remaining in the contest, as he reached the end zone on a one-yard run. Those points were the only scored by either team in the second half.

New Mexico State opened the scoring with a 23-yard field goal midway through the first quarter.

Fresno State answered with a 30-yard field goal by Kevin Goessling to tie the game with 1:19 left in the opening frame.

On the ensuing kickoff, Chris Williams raced 96 yards for a touchdown to give his Aggies a 10-3 advantage.

Three minutes into the second quarter, Brandstater plunged into the end zone from one yard out to tie the game.

The Aggies fumbled the ensuing kickoff, and Sharrod Davis raced 25 yards for a touchdown to give Fresno State a 17-10 lead.

New Mexico State knotted the score at 17-17 with 6:22 remaining in the first half on a 17-yard touchdown pass from Holbrook to A.J. Harris. Unfortunately, the team was unable to score again for the rest of the game.

The Aggies finished the game with minus-nine yards rushing, the most obvious reason for the loss.
