TE Gates among four players placed on PUP list by San Diego

San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - The San Diego Chargers placed Pro Bowl tight end Antonio Gates, center Nick Hardwick, fullback Andrew Pinnock and linebacker Anthony Waters on the physically unable to perform list Friday.
Gates, who caught 75 passes for 984 yards and nine touchdowns in 16 games last season, is recovering from a toe injury. Hardwick is recovering from a foot injury, while Pinnock and Waters are out with knee injuries.
All four players are prohibited from participating in practice until they pass a physical.
