The Answer is.....drumroll please.....Chris Weinke
I'm not sure if this is anti-climactic or what.
Weinke, (6-4, 232), spent six seasons with the Carolina Panthers after joining the team as a fourth-round draft pick out of Florida State in 2001. Weinke compiled a 32-3 record during his collegiate career and earned the Heisman Trophy and the Davey O'Brien Award as a senior in 2000...
Weinke's immediately was inserted into the starting lineup as a rookie and finished second in NFL history with 2,931 passing yards by a rookie, trailing only Peyton Manning of Indianapolis who threw for 3,793 yards in 1998.
Doesn't Chris Weinke just seem like a younger Dilfer? I actually just checked out their profiles at ESPN and Chris Weinke is only 4.5 months younger than Dilfer. The difference between the two? Trent Dilfer has appeared in 131 games over 14 years and thrown for over 20,000 yards. Chris Weinke has appeared in 27 games over 7 seasons and thrown for 3,800 yards. Well, hopefully this just means Shaun Hill will be our guy the rest of the season.

Fooch...
Seriously, we all knew that the QB they would bring in (if any at all) wouldn't be expected to be the team's starter down the stretch and isn't really an option for next year, either. This late in the season, the pickings in free agency are really slim.
Being that Weinke has had a decent amount of experience, perhaps the 49ers signed him as a place holder for Olson. Between the two of them, if Hill were to go down with injury this week, Weinke may be the most able to "wing it" without much playbook studying. Who knows, by this time next week, Weinke will be on the Greyhound headed to his hometown while Olson gets promoted from the practice squad.
In any case, lets all just hope Shaun Hill doesn't get hurt.
YAY, Weinke!
But Fooch, you might want to update the tagline that reads, "So THAT'S what victory is like!" I've already forgotten what victory is like...
And that makes me a SAD panda!

I am telling you...
Maybe
Who is the general manager?
That's who signed Weinke.
Is there any gas left in Jake Plummer's tank? Especially with problems with blocking getting Plummer to run and throw could have given, might have given them a little more dimensional offense. And he could be the vet to come in next year to give Smith competition.

Yeah...
The question is, what QBs are going to be free agent's this off season?
McNabb comes to mind, not sure who else.
Ain't nuttin' but a Weinksta party...
And since I have nothing intelligent to add at the moment, I offer you this:
Weinksta's Paradise
Weinkstas make the world go round
Original Weinksta...
Or that Percy Sledge song
