Until the bye
At Pittsburgh
Seattle at home
Baltimore at home
Before the season started I would have written off the Pittsburgh and Baltimore games, with a pretty good possibility of them taking care of Seattle at home.
I still think unless Hostler has set up the greatest mindfuck and is going to unleash the true offense next week that a win in Pittsburgh is unlikely. But the Seattle game is very possible, and I think that we may have a shot with Baltimore. One win would give the Niners a 3-2 record at the bye. Two wins would give us a 4-1.
After the bye we get the Giants, New Orleans and Atlanta. The Giants are falling apart in front of our eyes, their coach and their quarterback could both be out by then. New Orleans looks terrible so far. I don't know if they were playing so much over their heads last year, or they suddenly suck, but they are no longer an automatic L. And Atlanta should be the easiest game on the schedule.
So as terrible as our offense has looked, if we can generate the minimal passing and running, it's not impossible if the Niners are 6-2, or even 7-1 going into the last half of the season.
Just saying.
Okay, I'll put down the pipe and walk away from the computer.

Niners Nation medical marijuana anybody?
Actually I think you make an excellent point. I think worst case right now, this team could be 3-5 after 8. Best case, 7-1. Of course it'll likely end up in the middle. If the offense can improve there are plenty of winnable games out there.

The problem is
You think you know which teams got better and which teams got worse, but you don't. After the Vick fiasco Atlanta looked like a win, but who would have guessed how bad New Orleans would look. And what's the cause? Is the Giants defense good to give up forty points every game? The Steelers look as good as ever, but Seattle lost to Arizona too. Baltimore lost to the team that lost to Cleveland.
Anyway, Fooch, if the offense stays this way all season there'll be plenty of people lined up for your clinic.
