We all know what needs to happen tonight.  The 49ers can either curl up in a ball and call it a season, or they can step up and make a statement on national television tonight.  The Seahawks have played better up to this point, but as has been discussed below, tonight is the start of a whole new season, as far as I'm concerned.

Deion Branch and Shaun Alexander are both out again, although the Seahawks have done ok without them up to this point.  Clements and Harris will be matched up with DJ Hackett and Nate Burleson while our rather weak run defense will deal with Maurice Morris and a little extra Leonard Weaver.  Patrick Willis will be rocking the club on his broken hand, but it's not a first for him.  In college he broke a finger and was forced to wear a club, so hopefully he's relatively used to it...just don't expect any interceptions.

I'm not guaranteeing a victory and I'm not guaranteeing a blow out.  I would like to think though that this team has enough pride to step up and execute for once this season.  I'd expect they'll be fired up to win for Mike and Dick Nolan, but I'd like to think even without that issue, the team would step up on the national stage.  Let's make it 2-0 on MNF, how bout it?!

GO NINERS!
