ESPN has announced that Mike Golic and Mike Greenberg from Mik & Mike in the Morning will be the lead broadcasters for the 49ers-Cardinals MNF opener. They will combine with Miek Ditka and Bonnie Bernstein.
Needless to say, I'm not quite sure what I think of this. I usually catch the televised broadcast of M&M on ESPN2 in the morning and definitely am entertained by them. I'm just not sure how that will carry over into broadcasting a football game. I'd assume Greenberg would be the main announcer with Golic and Ditka providing color commentary.
The "Varsity" team for Week 1 will be Mike Tirico, Tony Kornheiser and Ron Jaworski. I can definitely say that I like having Jaworski in there over Theismann. I've never been a Theismann fan and think this will tighten up that broadcast and make it more enjoyable each week.
The JV team is looking like a mixed bag. While I certainly enjoy me some Ditka, I've never been a big fan of him on the pre-game shows. I'm certainly a Bonnie Bernstein fan so that helps. In checking around the Internets, Kissing Suzy Kolber is most definitely against it. I'll just say that I'm willing to give it a shot, unless they think the idea of 3 Mikes in the booth is funny. I've got low expectations, so hopefully they'll be exceeded.
