49ers interview Broncos tight ends coach Pat McPherson

Earlier today Mike Singletary and Scot McCloughan had a phone interview with Broncos tight end coach Pat McPherson for the vacant quarterbacks coach position.

Given that the 49ers already interviewed Rick Dennison for the OC position, the pattern is emerging.  They interviewed Rob Chudzinski of the Browns and then interviewed Rip Scherer for the QB position.  The new OC will have the power to bring in their own QB coach, but rather than wait until after he's hired, include him in the original interview process.  Has this happened elsewhere?  It seems like a smart and creative way to handle the situation.  As I said before, it should help Singletary get a better idea of the guy who will be his right-hand man on offense.

Before I get to his coaching history, it's interesting to note that his father, Bill McPherson, was a long time member of the 49ers front office and coaching staff until 2005.  Also, Pat tried out for the 49ers as an undrafted rookie free agent.  Here's his coaching history:

1994-1997: Bellarmine College Prep, defensive coordinator/ILB coach
1996: San Francisco 49ers, defensive quality control volunteer
1998: Denver Broncos, defensive assistant
1999-2002: Denver Broncos, offensive assistant
2003-2006: Denver Broncos, quarterbacks coach
2007-2008: Denver Broncos, tight ends coach
