Are the San Francisco 49ers Unraveling?

Are the San Francisco 49ers unraveling? Have they already been unraveled? It certainly appears that way. The 49ers can't stay away from shooting themselves in the foot. Thankfully, though, what I'm calling a "mini disaster," didn't break the skin. The 49ers brought blanks in their all-knowing, all-seeing foot-shooting rifle.

The 49ers are a wildly dysfunctional team, even if they hadn't made a single headline and simply just went 0-3, they'd be a dysfunctional team. But this Michael Lewis situation isn't really furthering that, in my mind. The public will perceive it as such, and we'll hear that on the long list of things that have gone "wrong," for this team thus far in our 2010 campaign, which is turning out to be something of a nightmarish dream which I've been stuck in for weeks. Once I acknowledge that I'm dreaming, aren't I supposed to make myself fall asleep within it so I can wake up? I'm writing this late at night, so I'll let you know how that goes today.

There is a long list of things for us to worry about. On a broad scale, will this team recover from their 0-3 hole? Can this team make the playoffs this year? Can they make any noise when they get there? Playoffs? Playoffs...? And in a more concentrated scale, does Singletary have what it takes to be a successful head coach? Can Mike Johnson be an effective offensive coordinator? Is there some sort of rift between the players and coaches?

I don't know how to answer any of those questions. I only know a few things, and these are just my opinions as I see them, and I'd like to hear what you have to say on most of these matters. I think we're an 0-3 team with the talent to be a 3-0 team, and a team like that can never be counted on to lose the next thirteen games. I think we have some playmakers who can be very effective and some coaches who can be dependable, but weak links and apparent lack of decent management have negated some of the positives we have. I won't call this season done for awhile yet, especially while we're in the NFC West.

So back to the question at hand: Are the 49ers unraveling? Yeah, they are, they most definitely are. I want to know more about the specifics of what happened with Michael Lewis, and if not, I want some damn good lies regarding the matter. Can they stop themselves from unraveling? Absolutely. Definitely. For sure. Absolutely. You know. Definitely.
