I decided to steal a page from Arrowhead Pride (and numerous other sites) and start taking a weekly look at who the so-called experts are picking in the upcoming 49ers game. I don't know how much value there is in any of these picks. Maybe we can get Florida Danny to do a statistical breakdown of these jokers! Nonetheless I thought it would at least be amusing to look these over as we await the kickoff of today's battle with the Panthers.

It's interesting to see how widely different networks can vary in their picks. Over at CBS Sports, four of the five "experts" took the Panthers. At Yahoo! Sports, tow of the three "experts" took the 49ers, while 77% of the public went with the 49ers. ESPN is a bit more one-sided in favor of the 49ers as Mike Golic was the only one of nine to take the Panthers. Fox Sports had a more even mix of three picking the Panthers and three picking the 49ers.

I took a quick look at some individual picks as well, although again, we can only use expert so loosely. Mike Florio took the Panthers to win 16-10, while the Sports Guy Bill Simmons took the Panthers at +3, and based on his comments I'd imagine he expects a Panthers win.

All in all it's a pretty random mix of picks, which is really quite fitting given the 49ers season performance to date and how many question marks both of these teams have.
