100 in 100: Dorin Dickerson (75 of 100)

25 DAYS UNTIL THE DRAFT...

Dorin Dickerson was one of the better receiving tight ends in the nation. For some reason some of the experts seem to think that he will better suited as a fullback. I am unsure in how or why they are drawing the conclusion when Dickerson was very effective as a receiving tight end. He had 49 receptions on the season and was one of, if not the favorite target of Quarterback Bill Stull.

Dickerson had a decent game against North Carolina in the Meineke Car Care Bowl with 4 Receptions for 21 yards which helped in the 19-17 victory.

The Pittsburgh Tight End had an excellent combine and more than likely catapulted his stock a bit. He ran a 4.40 in the 40-yard dash, 24 reps in the bench press, 43.5" in the vertical jump, 10'5" in the broad jump, 6.96 in the 3-cone drill, and last but not least 4.30 in the 20-yard shuttle.

I believe that Dickerson will be making an instant impact for whatever team drafts him. He isn't the best blocker but he will present mismatches for the opposing defenses to think about.

Below we'll look at some more of Dickersons accomplishments while playing for Pittsburgh.

Unfortunately, there was no embedding for the highlights on Dorin Dickerson, but I have provided a link below if you are interested:

SUMMARY AND PROJECTION:

I would be hard pressed to predict Dickerson being selected anything higher than a mid round pick. He is sort of a tweener... it's difficult to say whether he will be used as a larger receiver (which he can do with his speed), or a receiving tight end much like Delanie Walker is used for the 49ers. If he can gain a few pounds and keep his speed on top of perfecting his blocking, he could end up being a very high value pick for someone. Dickerson measured at 6'4" and weighed in at 226.

Possibilities: 4th Round: Picks 99-131.
