100 in 100: Nate Allen (79 of 100)

21 DAYS (3 WEEKS) UNTIL THE DRAFT...

There is not a whole lot of depth at the safety position in this years draft outside of the third round or so. Nate Allen should find his name being called sometime before that.

Allen was arguably the best safety in the Big East this past season. He is a natural ball hawk and is able to lay some pretty heafty hits on the opposition. There have been a few people here at Niners Nation that feel like Nate Allen would be a great addition to our secondary. If one of the bigger names slips past us in the first round, he would definitely be worthy of consideration in the second. Allen has good range and is able to cover a lot of ground in most scenarios.

As a true freshman, Allen played all but 4 games that year. He was elevated to a full-time starter position in his sophomore year and would remain the starter for the duration of the rest of his career at South Florida. The Bulls benefited from having three very solid pro prospects in Allen, Jason Pierre-Paul, and George Selvie. Allen has his best year as far as interceptions finishing with 5; his career total ended up being 10.

Nate Allen could very well end up being this years Jarius Byrd.

After the jump, we'll continue with some highlights and stats as well as a projection at the bottom of the article.

Sticking with the theme of the music on this particular feed, Allen has the chance to be a hero. This is a good display of his capabilities. If you have not seen any footage from Allen, it is definitely worth a look.

SUMMARY AND PROJECTION:

There aren't many weaknesses in Allen's game and it is a mystery as to why he is projected by most to be a second rounder. With how well-rounded he is, it seems as though he should be the number two safety coming out this year behind only Eric Berry. With that being said, he will be an absolute steal for some ball club here in a few weeks. He measured in at 6'0" and weighed in at 207 LBS at the combine a month ago or so.

Possibilities -- 2nd Round: Picks 33-64. High - 1st Round: Picks 20-32, Low - 3rd Round: Picks 65-70.
