I realize this is only a preseason game, but given that it's the first real football game of the 2010 preseason, I figured we might as well roll out the red carpet with our first non-49ers game thread of the new season. We'll be back next week with our first 49ers game thread on Sunday the 15th, but for now there is still some football to enjoy.
I did manage to find an interesting note over at Daily Norseman. Apparently, since the inception of the NFL Hall of Fame game in the Super Bowl era, only three teams that appeared in Canton played in the Super Bowl. Those teams were the 1988 Cincinnati Bengals, the 1994 San Diego Chargers, and the 2001 St. Louis Rams. All three went on to lose in the Super Bowl. So, take that for what it's worth.
