The 49ers have certainly had an interesting start to their preseason finale. After an up and down performance against the Raiders last week, David Carr looked relatively comfortable in his quarter and a half of playing time. He made some nice passes and generally looked comfortable in the offense. The offensive highlight was Anthony Dixon's sweet 46 yard touchdown run, although Dominique Zeigler's non-catch in the end zone was nice even if it didn't count. Dixon still dances a bit, but there is a bit less complaining when he's spotting the holes (even against backups).
The defense has reverted to its bend but don't break ways tonight. A pair of interceptions, including one in the end zone bailed out a defense that was giving up some big gains against the Charters second stringers. The two big plays on defense were Manny Lawson's batted pass and subsequent interception and Taylor Mays' end zone interception to stop the Chargers short.
GO NINERS!
