The 49ers got the second half off to a great a start forcing a Saints punt. The offense put together the best drive of the year, and arguably one of the best of Alex Smith's career. Unfortunately the 49ers defense more or less shot themselves in the foot with some incredibly silly plays and the Saints put a touchdown on the board to take the 16-14 lead. The 49ers get the ball back with under two minutes remaining in the quarter. That's of some significance because in the fourth quarter the 49ers will be playing into the wind, which can be tough on kicks and passes.
