UPDATE: Kendall Hunter Now Expected To Start

New, comments

Fooch's Update: Albert Breer just tweeted that Kendall Hunter will start but Frank Gore will also play.

We'll add in the inactive list here in a little bit, but for now, the big news is that 49ers running Frank Gore is expected to start later today. Fox Sports had earlier reported that they thought he would be inactive, but Sal Paolantonio later reported that Jim Harbaugh told him Gore would get the start.

Following that report, Matt Barrows tweeted that Gore was out on the field 2 1/2 hours before the game testing out the ankle. I still think there's a chance he doesn't get the start or is quite limited in his carries depending on the results of that workout. For fantasy purposes it's a conundrum because we don't know how much work Kendall Hunter and/or Anthony Dixon will get, or if Gore will be able to resume his normal heavy workload.

For actual winning the game purposes, I do hope the team at least mixes in Hunter and Dixon to keep the Eagles defense off balance. The 49ers have their work cut out for them and having an effective running game would greatly improve their chances of winning.

49ers inactives: QB Scott Tolzien, WR Braylon Edwards, FB Moran Norris, OL Daniel Kilgore, OL Mike Person, NT Ian Williams, DE Demarcus Dobbs

Eagles Inactives: CB Curtis Marsh, DE Darryl Tapp, OG Danny Watkins, OT Winston Justice, OG Julian Vandervelde, DE Juqua Parker, CB Brandon Hughes
