49ers vs. Bucs: Guess Who's For Real?

This is a tweet from last Sunday, but it is oh so appropriate following the 49ers thrashing of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This tweet came after the 49ers comeback victory against the Philadelphia Eagles. If that game was a step in the right direction, the 49ers domination of the Bucs was a giant leap forward.

By now if u don't believe the #Niners are for real ur probably not that good at what u do...

It really is just that simple. The 49ers are for real. While today's win guarantees nothing other than the 49ers finishing the season with no fewer than four wins, this was a statement game. Earlier this morning I wrote about how today was an opportunity to turn the corner on years of disappointment. The 49ers have a lot of work left to do this year, but if they have in fact turned the corner, these last two wins could be viewed as those turning points.

The 49ers are indeed for real and each week now brings another opportunity to further ram home that point. Eventually the national media will recognize this fact. Some already do while others aren't quite there. I can live with that. As long as the 49ers are winning I can live with whatever coverage the media wants to dole out. The 49ers are 4-1 and that's all that matters. This team is starting to turn some heads and for those of us who endured the dog days of the last decade, we could be on the verge of something special.

I'm not prepared to declare this team the second coming of the 1989 49ers, but my confidence took a sizable leap forward with today's win. I don't know what the rest of this season holds, but I'm excited to find out. I mentioned earlier this week about being in a murky area as a fan. I'd say we're moving in the right direction out of that murky, gray area.

We can't ignore the Joshua Morgan injury today and that prevents it from being a perfect day. But I have to say, today was a good day.
