49ers Vs. Giants Final Injury Report: Ray McDonald Questionable, Frank Gore Probable

The San Francisco 49ers and New York Giants submitted their final injury reports Sunday's game and there are no real surprises to report. On the Giants side of things, as previously mentioned, Ahmad Bradshaw was declared out for the game, which means Brandon Jacobs steps into his place to face the high powered 49ers rushing defense. I keep waiting for a running back to break though against the defense, but it has yet to happen. Roy Helu looked like he might be that guy, but after a strong start he was shut down in the rushing game and become the dump-off king.

Wide receiver Hakeem Nicks is listed as questionable, which means he is officially a game-time decision. Nicks did not participate in practice on Wednesday and was limited on Thursday. He has been slowly building up his work level, but he once again was limited. Even if he does play, I wonder if he will get very many snaps, particularly given the solid play from the rest of the receivers and tight ends.

For the 49ers, Ray McDonald is listed as questionable and is a game-time decision. McDonald was limited in practice all week, and I would not be surprised to see him sit one more week. It's not the ideal situation, but I'd rather the team get him back to 100% for the rest of the season, rather than risk an aggravation that knocks him out a few more weeks. It's the smart play, particularly given the solid play of Ricky Jean Francois in his place.

The good news of the day is that Frank Gore was listed as probable for the game. Gore has been limited in practice this week, but has at least managed to take part in individual drills and warm-ups. I would not be surprised to see Kendall Hunter end up with a few more touches on Sunday. The Giants rush defense struggles when runners get into the open field so a little bit of Kendall Hunter burst could do good things on Sunday.
