The NFL released the first round of Pro Bowl fan balloting results and the 49ers are in the mix at quite a few positions. Punter Andy Lee is the only 49ers player leading at his position, but there are plenty of players that are in the mix. It is worth noting that fan balloting counts for one-third of the results. The other two-thirds comes from players and coaches.
Mike Sando put together a breakdown of NFC West players sitting in the top five and the 49ers have 16 players in the top five:
1st: Andy Lee (P)
2nd: Justin Smith (DT), Patrick Willis (ILB), David Akers (K), Ted Ginn (KR), Blake Costanzo (ST)
3rd: Bruce Miller (FB), Dashon Goldson (FS)
4th: Jonathan Goodwin (C), Carlos Rogers (CB), Joe Staley (OT), Frank Gore (RB)
5th: Ray McDonald (DT), Mike Iupati (OG), NaVorro Bowman (ILB), Vernon Davis (TE)
If you have some time, head over to the Pro Bowl ballot to vote for as many 49ers as you can for the upcoming Pro Bowl. In an ideal world, none of the 49ers would play in the Pro Bowl. Due to the timing of the Pro Bowl and the Super Bowl, the two Super Bowl teams do not take part in the Pro Bowl. Let's hope for that.
