The San Francisco 49ers improved to 9-1 today as they rode a dominant defensive effort and a strong third quarter offensive effort to a 23-7 victory. It wasn't always pretty, but the 49ers took care of business. The 49ers have reached a point where they enter certain games expected to win. Taking care of business without too many dramatics is exactly what was needed. The kicking game and red zone offense had their struggles in the first half, but the defense brought it's A-plus game today.
A bit lost in the hubbub of another victory was the fact that Vernon Davis surpassed Brent Jones for number one on the franchise's all time touchdown list for tight ends. In the third quarter, Davis caught his 34th career touchdown to give the 49ers their 23-0 lead.
Normally I post a tweet in this final post of Sunday, but I thought today I'd post video of Davis' touchdown catch. Check out immediately after the score as he leaps over the camera-man. It was a perfect pass and an equally impressive leap.
