2011 NFL Draft: Minus Von Miller & Patrick Peterson

Yesterday I wrote up a post about whether people would want Von Miller or Patrick Peterson if the opportunity presented itself with the seventh pick of the 2011 NFL Draft. Peterson won running away as he grabbed 75% of the vote. 20% voted for Miller, 1% went with other players, and 2% would trade the pick. Patrick Peterson is indeed high on the list of possibility for most people.

Someone tweeted to me asking what would happen if neither is available at seven. In an effort to completely beat this subject into the ground, I thought I'd propose such a possibility. I actually think there's a fairly good chance one of them is there at seven, although both being there seems unlikely. As Blaine Gabbert and Cam Newton work out in the coming weeks, they could see their draft stock skyrocket. While it's no guarantee, I think both could end up going in the top six picks.

If things work out where Miller and Peterson are both gone when the 49ers pick, where would you turn to next? There are numerous options. I'd imagine the top six would include Miller, Peterson, Nick Fairley, Da'Quan Bowers, A.J. Green and then either Blaine Gabbert, Cam Newton, or Marcell Dareus (all of course subject to change). I've included a poll that tries to assess the options. You can plug in Newton or Gabbert as an other, but I included Dareus under the assumption that one of the two QBs goes in the top six. Jordan is in there as my intriguing prospect of the moment.

Prince Amukamara would seem to be the potential option and mock drafts have thrown him out there as well. I mentioned earlier today that Patrick Peterson has been going to the 49ers a bit more frequently at this point. Is it safe to say people are just throwing crap against the wall to see what sticks?
