We're back with the third edition of the 49ers second round predictions in our 2011 NFL Mock Draft Database. Last week's edition was actually really balanced as there were four or five predictions of quarterbacks, defensive tackles, defensive ends, and outside linebackers. Christian Ponder stood out a little bit, but for the most part it was a healthy mix of positions and players.
This week's edition (posted after the jump) skews more significantly towards the quarterback position as we have eight of the twenty-two mocks predicting a quarterback in round two. Given the question marks around guys like Cam Newton and Blaine Gabbert, a later round QB choice seems likely. Of course, Newton and/or Gabbert could have strong Combine and Pro Day performances and draw the attention of Jim Harbaugh and Trent Baalke. With a little over two months until the 2011 NFL Draft anything is possible.
The poll I've attached is basically just meant to see what people are thinking for the moment. I'm not expecting people to be anywhere close to positive about this right now. So much will happen and when you get past the first two rounds, things can get crazy in the draft. Nonetheless I'm still curious where people see a QB coming from in the draft.
