Now that Super Bowl XLV is in the books, Bodog (and others I'm sure) released preliminary odds for Super Bowl XLVI in 2012. The game will take place at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Green Bay Packers (7/1) and New England Patriots (8/1) are the early favorites. The Packers make sense as defending champs, and the Patriots make sense given their wealth of talent, six picks in the first three rounds I believe.
Our San Francisco 49ers are a little further down the list of 2012 Super Bowl odds. They are currently sitting as 40/1 to win Super Bowl XLVI. Other 40/1 teams include the St. Louis Rams and Tennessee Titans. Michigan State, Texas A&M, and West Virginia are all 40/1 odds to win the BCS National title game (for anybody interested in that random bit of info). The NFC West lines up as follows:
San Francisco 49ers - 40/1
St. Louis Rams - 40/1
Arizona Cardinals - 75/1
Seattle Seahawks - 85/1
These aren't divisional odds so this isn't a perfect comparison of how Bodog sees the division finishing up. However, based on these odds it seems safe to say that the 49ers and Rams will be co-favorites or pretty close to that to win the division, with Arizona and Seattle distinctly separate. I was a bit surprised Seattle is so much further back in these particular odds. Is it because of their quarterback concerns? If that's the case then Bodog must have a ton of confidence in 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh (must be 49ers fans!).
