We're back with an updated version of our 2011 NFL Mock Draft database. This database of 49ers mock drafts has continued to focus in on the cornerback position. Last week we had 17 mocks selecting either Patrick Peterson or Prince Amukamara. This week we are up to 18. Blaine Gabbert remains a QB holdout, getting four selections in our small sample of mock drafts.
I know people have their personal preferences for who the 49ers should select with their number one overall pick. However, we all know that what they should do and what they'll actually be able to do are two entirely different matters. We've got a third of the mocks selecting Patrick Peterson but this seems less and less likely to happen by the day. Aside from an allegedly poor Wonderlic score, Peterson has done just about everything right. Whether his performances translate into NFL game action or not, he's done what he needs to do to prepare for the upcoming draft.
I suppose the alleged Wonderlic score (since they're never "officially" released) could hurt him, but other than that, hasn't he done everything he needs to prove himself? I'd love to see him drop, but realistically should he? If he were to drop to the 49ers, barring any bad news in the coming weeks would that be a bit of an indictment as to either the cornerback position at the top of the draft or the draft evaluation process in the months leading up to the draft?
As for the poll, there is no "other" or "trade" option because I just want you to vote on what pick you think is most likely to happen between the players appearing in this week's mock drafts.
