Last week I hinted that I might start looking away from the NFL for Caption This! material. As long as there's no CBA, there's no football. And as long as there's no football, it's open season on other sports. So, let's call this a transitional Caption This! Indeed, it does feature an NFL player. Indeed, it does feature the sport of football. And yet, it doesn't. Sort of. Just roll with me, here.

Really, when you think about it, there's only one current news story truly worthy of the Caption This! Chad Ochocinco is brilliant at promoting his own brand. He's one of, if not the best in the whole sports world at promoting his own brand. And this year, he's found a way to combine a brilliant promotional exercise with actual, physical exercise. He claims that he's trying out for the, uh... Sporting Kansas City... for love of the game. And I'm perfectly happy believing that. It doesn't really matter. It's a great story either way, and he knows it. And we know it. And... wait... the Sporting Kansas City? That's the name of a sports franchise? A legitimate sports franchise?
This can't be right. I call shenanigans. The Sporting Kansas City? I can't wait to watch them play their biggest rivals, those dastardly All Around Nice Guys St. Louis. Or what about their rematch with defending American soccer champs, the Lovable Anaheim.
Where was I? Oh yeah, Chad Ochocinco is entertaining, so I'm going to take advantage of that. Also, MLS teams need better names. The Cuddly New York just isn't cutting it in the 21st century.
