The schedule of 2011 NFL Pro Days returns with a small slate of schools including Coastal Carolina, UCLA, and Utah. I've posted the players after the jump, but it's relatively limited number of players on which we'll really focus in. The biggest names are outside linebacker Akeem Ayers, safety Rahim Moore, and cornerback Brandon Burton. Kicker Kai Forbath is of note as well as the 49ers worked out Forbath late last week.
Yesterday Drew K put together a rundown on Rahim Moore so check that out when you get a minute. I thought for this post we'd focus in a bit more on Akeem Ayers and pass rushing outside linebackers in general. Dan Kadar over at Mocking The Draft actually projects Ayers as an inside linebacker in the 3-4 and a strong-side linebacker in the 4-3. He apparently was not called on to blitz all that frequently at UCLA and so his pass rush skills are still a bit raw. Scouts Inc provided their own scouting report and said he had "upside" as an edge rusher.
How do people view linebackers transitioning inside or outside from the other? So, a guy who played inside in college moving outside, or vice versa. I've read a variety of comments here about NaVorro Bowman and where he would best be utilized. Some folks have suggested a move to the outside for Bowman, while others are content with him earning his stripes as the Ted linebacker of the future. What do you think?
