Welcome back to Niners Nation After Dark, where we're finally getting a chance to enjoy some really nice weather. I don't want to rub it in too much, but it was gorgeous earlier today and will likely continue like that through the weekend. There will be some crazy weather changes at some point, but I'll enjoy it for now.
Now that spring is upon us in San Francisco, it means city softball leagues are picking back up. I've played with some buddies of mine for the past four or five years and we're back at it again this year. We won our division and finished second in the league playoffs last spring and moved up to a new league in the summer. Unfortunately we were blasted for most of that season and relegated back to our old division. We opened earlier this evening with a 21-1 beatdown, so we're feeling pretty good. Your fearless leader was 2-for-4 with 4 runs scored (pinch-ran for our injured manager twice), and made four putouts at the rover position.
I realize most folks probably don't care about my sporting exploits. However, I wanted to use that as a segue. Sports like softball and soccer are a bit easier to play on a recreational level. Do folks take part in any sort of recreational or other amateur sports leagues? In this instance, sports can probably be fairly broadly defined. I guess really it comes down to, what, if anything, keeps you active?
