The 2011 NFL Draft is just under four weeks away (27 days from today) and our 49ers mock draft database seems to be rounding more and more into focus. Last week the database had 18 cornerback selections, with 11 being Patrick Peterson and 7 being Prince Amukamara. This week, the database (linked above, posted in full after the jump) has 23 cornerback selections, with 14 of Peterson and 9 of Amukamara. I've seen enough doubt here at Niners Nation regarding Peterson that it leaves me a little surprised we see so many Peterson selections. Of course, given that most (if not all) of these mocks do not have much in the way of insider information, I can take it with a grain of salt.
As we try and figure out who will be going where in this year's draft, a relatively small group of players is consistently being shuffled around in the top ten or so picks, give or take. Yesterday, LondonNiner asked the question of whether or we could see anybody sneak into the top of the draft. Bignerd mentioned Jake Locker and Ryan Mallett. I could see a quarterback getting up there, but is there anybody else that could sneak in? Maybe an offensive lineman? I don't have a reason to think any OL would move up there, but who knows what might happen come Draft day.
