We had a couple of brief bits of news regarding Patrick Willis and I thought I'd just combine them together. The first story likely brings a sigh of relief from many fans. Michael Vick rolled to victory in their quarterfinal matchup in the Madden '12 cover contest. I was hoping to see Willis get some more recognition, but plenty of folks had other ideas given their concerns about the alleged Madden cover curse. The semifinals feature Vick versus Adrian Peterson and Aaron Rodgers versus Peyton Hillis.
In other "news" Ray Lewis had some comments about Patrick Willis (embedded video after the jump). The Willis comments come during the final minute:
I like a lot of them, but the one I talk to the most who I think kind of emulates me a lot is Patrick Willis. I just love the way he plays the game. He plays the game with a fire. He reminds me of myself -- a lot, a lot, a lot. Not just on the field, but off the field. It would definitely have to be Pat.
Now, I'm sure there's a snide comment or two to be made about one particular moment in Ray Lewis' off the field history, but otherwise, Ray Lewis is a guy Willis could very well emulate on the field. Ray Lewis has put together a Hall of Fame career and by the time it's all over, Patrick Willis could have very well surpassed him on the list of all-time linebacker greats in the NFL.
