2011 NFL Draft, 50 in 50: Da'Quan Bowers - DE - Clemson (47 of 50)

There are some players in this draft that simply will not fit the 49ers scheme both on offense and defense. That is not the majority but it's certainly plays a factor in how the draft is conducted for some teams.

Each year, in the first round there are player that seem as though they will be sure-fire talents once they hit the NFL. But that is not always how it pans out. On each individual basis, it all depends on where a guy is drafted. The surroundings can be a major factor in some players' success.

As we close in on the draft, there is a lot of uncertainty as to how all of the lockout stuff will effect the draft itself. Will there, or won't there be a free agency soon. If so, when? Some of the major analyst believe that it will be no longer than a week and others think it could actually happen by tomorrow. If it does, then that will play a role in how teams approach the draft.

With that, I'd like to introduce a player who could be in the mix as one of those who could be "trade-bait".

Bowers has some things he does well and there are other aspects of his game that he will need to really polish. He isn't the quickest off the snap but once he has engaged in contact he is very good at maneuvering himself to make a play. However, he at times, finds himself being squared up and blocked out. He has big play ability but it is not consistent throughout the game. He is really streaky as far as his presence is concerned.

Here are his career stats at Clemson:

Summary: Bowers is one of those boom or bust guys entering this draft. I don't think he will ever be average. I believe he will either be really, really good, or he will be really, really bad. There are teams like Tennessee and Houston that would love to have Bowers on one side or the other rushing the passer. I do not think that his game would suit a 3-4 defense very well. His game is strong in a 4-3.

PREDICTION: 1st Round.
