As we make our way towards the final four rounds of the 2011 NFL Draft, I thought I'd put together a post with some highlight videos from Colin Kaepernick's time at Nevada. When it comes to analyzing a player's skills, YouTube highlight compilations have as much credibility as the scouting reports of the homeless guy sitting down the street from my apartment. However, when you add in the music, it makes it at least a little bit fun to get amped up for the guy.
I know not everybody is sold on Kaepernick, and I know some of his tools mean he is a bit of a project, but for one day I'm going to be a bit of an irrational fanboy (no snide comments about the rest of the time!). Kaepernick has a heck of an arm and serious athleticism. It remains to be seen whether it will convert at the NFL level, but I like to remain optimistic one day into his time with the 49ers.
I've said this before, but just so it really is for the record, I don't think Jim Harbaugh is some kind of guaranteer of quarterback success. He has to do more than wave his hand to develop a quarterback into gold. At the same time, his background has provided me with enough confidence to give him some time with Kaepernick. Maybe CK will be a bust and Jim Harbaugh will be out on his butt in a few years. I can live with that possibility knowing that there is a chance this could develop into something.
