The San Francisco 49ers have brought in a fullback to compete with (or replace) Moran Norris in the form of seventh round pick Bruce Miller. The 49ers have four 7th round picks in the 2011 NFL Draft, so it is not surprising to see a pick like this. Who knows whether he'll actually do enough to take the starting fullback job; after all he is a seventh round pick.
The folks at Big Cat Country put together this pros/cons scouting report
PROS: Very high motor player with good hustle. Great production in his 4-year career with over 30 sacks. Will be a versatile player that could fit as a situational pass rusher at defensive end or potentially a stand up linebacker in a 3-4. Does a lot of good pass rushing work with second effort. Smart player that knows his assignments and scrapes down the line of scrimmage well.
CONS: Doesn't have a true position in the NFL yet. Might not be explosive or strong enough to rush the passer with his hand on the ground. Overall speed may not be good enough to play full time stand up linebacker in a 3-4 scheme. Needs to work on his pass rushing repertoire and can get engulfed in the running game.
