I was really surprised to see people almost unanimously panning the idea of Nnamdi Asomugha coming to the 49ers. One person said that it's time to home-grow one, I'd like to ask where we start on that. Chris Culliver? I guess he's an option, but really, Nnamdi seems like he's one of those players who will be good for a lot longer than most, like Champ Bailey. I can't see any way that Nnamdi coming to San Francisco is a bad thing, we are not in a position to start getting choosy about which consensus top-five cornerback we're going after, to be honest. Not that I don't like the other option (Joseph), just that Asomugha is, as it stands, the best guy available. It all comes down to whether or not you think he'll regress, I do not think that he will. This isn't a Nate Clements-esque signing, because Nate was never "lockdown," despite what his website happens to say. Enjoy the links.
Almost all of the rookies picked their numbers, Aldon Smith being the exception. Glad there's no numbers that bother me, like last year when Taylor Mays didn't wear number 49. After being picked 49th. Totally lame. (49ers.com)
For some reason, I thought the list of other 49ers players who wore those numbers would be a little more impressive. Still, there are some good names there. (Scout.com)
Here's a look at how Colin Kaepernick could see the field in his rookie season. I especially like the line about Joe Nedney. (PressDemocrat.com)
I'm very happy with our new defensive backs coach, but he does have a big task ahead of him: preparing these young DBs. He's still got Phillip Adams, Tramaine Brock and Taylor Mays to worry about, too. (CSNBayArea.com)
So how did the draft affect the 49ers and their free agency situation? Well, first ... oh hey, Sam Lam already wrote an article. Convenient! I can go to bed now. (Examiner.com)
