A year or two ago we started to put together a community map to see where the Niners Nation community was based. People posted their zip codes and I manually entered them in to create a map of the NN community. It was a fun little project, albeit a little time intensive.
Well, Google Maps has decided to make life a little bit easier for putting together such a map. Big thanks to Canal Street Chronicles for pointing it out. I've posted the map after the jump so you can track where people are posting around the world.
To add yourself to the map:
1. Sign in to your google account (if you don't have one, sign up!)
2. Follow THIS LINK and click "edit", which is just to the left of the map in the left-hand column
3. Once you click on Edit, select the pin in the top left hand corner (it's to the immediate right of a little hand), set it in your location (you can zero into your actual house, or just include your city; I went to my street but not specific address), and hit save.
4. PLEASE DON'T DELETE ANYONE ELSE'S PINS.
It's a slow Sunday so I thought this would be a fun way to spend the afternoon. I know we've got a presence around the world, but it would be nice to focus in on where everybody is logging in from each day. If you have any questions, feel free to post them in the comments. As for the google account, you can create a fairly generic account if you don't have one yet.
