Video: Aldon Smith Works With Steve Mariucci, Warren Sapp

Big thanks to MochabearDubs9ers for posting this video as a FanShot. I've embedded it after the jump. It's a little slow loading so give it a moment or two. The video itself consists of Aldon Smith going through some work with former 49ers head coach Steve Mariucci and future Hall of Fame defensive lineman Warren Sapp. In this particular video we see him discussing some basic background info, but he also goes through lineman drills with Warren Sapp and some very basic film study with Coach Mariucci. It's not the best video for our purposes because it involves a lot of defensive line discussion, but there is some valuable information in the video.

Outside of all of the football chatter, I found it interesting to hear him discuss his play in other sports and how it helps him in football. He discussed how basketball has helped him with his footwork and boxing and mixed martial arts help with using his hands and his general hand recovery.

It's also worth noting that he didn't start playing football until his junior year of high school, so even including his red shirt year, Smith has basically five years of truly organized football under his belt. The "raw" and "project" terms would seem to apply to him, particularly since he's making the move to outside linebacker.

One warning before watching the video is that it includes a couple Warren Sapp plays against the 49ers that are pretty brutal for 49ers fans. Just a heads-up.
