Yesterday there was bad news, or maybe it was good news ... I really have trouble following along with the finer points of the NFL lockout. From what I gather yesterday, it can be perceived as bad because things are not yet agreed upon, but it does sound like the things remaining are small and negotiable. We're getting closer and all I want to do is lay down, go to sleep and hope it's all resolved whenever I wake up. That would just be wonderful, to be honest. We had a good amount of links yesterday, so be sure you go back and check them out, and enjoy what we've got today. So here 'goes.
Oh and look at that: something new about the stadium situation. But of course it's not good news, it's more news about a potential shared stadium for the Raiders and 49ers. I can't do that, it would take an awful lot to convince me to go to a game under those conditions. (SB Nation)
There's not many high-level cornerbacks in this free agent market, but there are a couple names worth looking into. I don't know how likely it is that the 49ers pursue a guy like Nnamdi Asomugha, but it sure would be nice. That Antonio Cromartie .gif never gets old, either. (SacBee.com)
Fabrizio Scaccia is probably going to have to leave the Arizona Rattlers once the new collective bargaining agreement is in place. He's been there, one of the better kickers in the Arena Football League, while this has been going down. I think he can compete with Joe Nedney. (SB Nation Bay Area)
Where would the new stadium be? I think Santa Clara still has to be the place. I see that this piece mentions the Giants-Jets shared stadium, and I have to say that I absolutely hate that particular venue. I think the "changing colors" aspect is tacky and poorly executed. This can't end well. (MercuryNews.com)
Here's the latest of Maiocco's co-op with other NFC West beat writers, this one examining the St. Louis Rams. (CSNBayArea.com)
If the numbers are your thing, he also takes a look at the 49ers salary cap situation. I like the position they're in, so long as they can get the Nate Clements situation figured out. That money didn't make sense when the team signed him and it doesn't make sense now. (CSNBayArea.com)
The NFC West as a whole is projected to have the most salary cap space. (ESPN.com)
