NN NFL Tournament of Badness: Al Davis, Ricky Bobby and New Kickoff Rule

I was legitimately surprised when "Less Cheerleaders" eliminated Joe Theismann, but it looks like it's going to be eliminated by "Tanking The Season To Draft Andrew Luck". Which is a shame, because it was deceptively strong and might be able to do some more damage given a different matchup. I never thought it was that big of a problem, but I know you guys are ... well, a bunch of guys.

Today, we've got "Al Davis Drafting Like Ricky Bobby Is Advising" up against the new kickoff rule the NFL will be implementing for the upcoming season. I think it's no secret which of these is worse in my mind. But I'm curious to see how you guys feel about things.

So make the jump to read the descriptions of the participants for today, read full results from the opening round of the bracket, view the entire bracket. But first: remember, we are voting on what we believe to be the absolute worst thing of the two. If you're voting in a worst food contest, and you like pizza more than hamburgers, you would then vote for hamburgers in that matchup. Get it? Got it? Good. Make the jump.

(6) Al Davis Drafting Like Ricky Bobby Is Advising

Al Davis likes fast guys. He loves fast receivers and definitely loves wide defensive backs. He drafted Darrius Heyward-Bey over Michael Crabtree (I guess the verdict is still out on that) because he was faster. Davis apparently thinks the NFL is a footrace. It's not, Al. It's not. Davis is so crazy he actually has a history of drafting the faster offensive linemen for some reason. There is really nothing else to say, other than, try to look at this for how bad it is as opposed to saying "this is good because the Raiders suck!!!" It's terrible.

(3) New Kickoff Rule

The NFL decided that they were going to move up kickoffs for player safety. As such, there will be a helluva lot more touchbacks. Like a lot more, to the point where it's going to be happening multiple times a game, probably. They said that it was for player safety, but I imagine they only did it so they can say the game is safer, so they can get closer to an eighteen-game season. To me, that really is the driving force behind the new rule, and that's what makes it worse. I just hate how, before the rule, it really did feel like kickoffs and special teams could change a game. It really was 1/3 of a football game, now I feel like kickoffs when down will have a lot less excitement, and it definitely is no longer on the same level as offense and defense.
