Carlos Rogers, Tarell Brown Likely Starting On Saturday

New, comments

According to Matt Barrows, it looks as though Carlos Rogers will get back into the starting lineup opposite Tarell Brown this Saturday against the Houston Texans. Last week, Rogers joined Shawntae Spencer on the side line and it was Brown and Tramaine Brock in the starting lineup. Brock could also start depending on the Texans alignment, but it sounds like Brown and Rogers will be the #1 and #2.

While 49ers fans are getting excited about Chris Culliver, Tarell Brown is the one who appears on the verge of grabbing Shawntae Spencer's starting cornerback job. Jim Harbaugh and Vic Fangio haven't made any specific declarations about the position, but Harbaugh did sort of circle his way around the issue earlier this week.

Without getting into what CB Shawntae Spencer's injury is or the severity of it, I'm not asking about that stuff, how is the fact that he has not practiced affected his battle for the starting job with CB Tarell Brown and with CB Tramaine Brock?

"Well, there's really just the film on Shawntae and (he's an) experienced player in the league, to go off of right now."

As things currently stand, would anybody really be shocked to see Tarell Brown and Carlos Rogers as your starting cornerbacks week one against the Seattle Seahawks? Brown was given an opportunity to start back in 2009 but it didn't really take. I remember times in recent weeks where people were ready to move past him. All of a sudden he has worked his way back into a possible starting role. It's amazing how quickly things can change.

How comfortable are you with a starting cornerback duo of Carlos Rogers and Tarell Brown heading into the regular season?
