Braylon Edwards Signs One-Year Deal With 49ers

You have GOT to be kidding me. I stepped out the door to drop something off at the post office and swing by the Verizon store, and I get back to MORE news. I'm not one to use caps too frequently, but ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!

The latest news indicates the San Francisco 49ers have come to terms with former Jets wide receiver Braylon Edwards on a one-year deal worth $3.5 million. After taking their time getting started in free agency, the 49ers have blown up the market the last few days. The team has added Edwards, Madieu Williams, Donte Whitner, Carlos Rogers, and Jonathan Goodwin, among several others.

For those concerned early on that the 49ers didn't have a strategy, patience really was the plan all along. The team took its time waiting for the first tier of free agents to sign and then took even more time as the market dwindled for even the second tier free agents. And then they pounced. Big time.

The 49ers have seen tremendous turnover in the last few days so let's not quite scream playoffs to the rafters. The 49ers have brought in some seriously legit talent, but today is the first day most of the talent is playing together. I'm excited about these developments, but now it's time to take a measured breath and see how this compilation of talent plays out. It's certainly been a fun, if hectic, sometimes irrational, few days.
