In the last match, we saw a titan among titans fall. "Brett Favre's Media Whoring" fell to "Cowboys Being America's Team", losing in rather devastating fashion. Will the latter win the whole tournament? We have one more matchup to go to decide which it will be up against. But first, a moment of silence for Brett Favre and his awfulness. His badness. ... Alright, that's enough thinking about Favre for one day. We march onward.
Today, we've got one surprise entrant, the notion of "Tanking The Season To Draft Andrew Luck", a twelve seed. It's going to take on my favorite to win it all, "Score, Commercial, Kickoff, Commercial." Now, the descriptions of the former have been somewhat lacking throughout the tournament and some people still don't quite get what it means. Please be sure to make the jump and realize what it is that you're voting on (or not voting on) before you suggest that it shouldn't be in the tournament.
This is a tournament of badness and as such, you need to be voting for the absolute worst of the two in any given matchup. I don't think I need to be saying it at this point, but just so there isn't any confusion ... I know that people have been confused by ballots and instructions before. Vote for which one you think is more awful than the other, so in the end, we can truly have the worst thing in the NFL. Jump for a description of the two entrants in today's matchup and a look at the rest of the bracket.
(12) Tanking The Season To Draft Andrew Luck
This isn't in here because some team has tried to do it, it's in here because of how ridiculous the notion is. Outside of it being stupid to think that a team should flush its entire season down the toilet, what folks need to remember is there are honestly fans out there who think it is alright to lose.
It's never alright to lose. Wash your hands of that silliness.
There's something inherently wrong with those who believe that losing is OK for any reason. It hurts the team in so many ways. Do remember that "tanking" isn't simply losing a week seventeen game for better draft positioning (which I also view to be entirely foolish and one of the dumbest things in the NFL), it's doing all you can to lose and draft a completely unproven player. It's hinging everything on a guy you might not even have a chance to get. It's pure idiocy is what it is, and the fact that there's some fans out there who think something like this is OK? For shame.
(2) Score, Commercial, Kickoff, Commercial
For one, there are far too many commercials during football broadcasts. Rather, there's far too much advertising, which is leading to less cheerleaders and things of that nature, but as to something actually important, the whole score, commercial, kickoff, commercial thing is so annoying. It actually really takes me out of the game. Sometime the game will fade to commercial immediately after a touchdown before there's time for a replay, and then it'll come back finally and we'll get a kickoff. Then another commercial. It's infuriating, and takes me personally out of the experience. I'm sure it does for some of you as well.
Sure they need to make some money, but it's my opinion that they're making plenty. Almost too much, if there's such a thing.
