The 49ers have apparently released an updated depth chart and their recent transactions have led to an adjustment on the practice squad. For informational purposes, the current practice squad consists of:
C Chase Beeler
OT Derek Hall
WR Joe Hastings
RB Ian Johnson
CB Cory Nelms
TE Konrad Reuland
LB Monte Simmons
The team waived Colin Jones yesterday and if he clears waivers he will be eligible to be signed to the 49ers practice squad.
As for the revised depth chart, the most notable changes from the first depth chart of the season has Michael Crabtree listed behind Josh Morgan and Shawntae Spencer listed at third string right cornerback behind Tarell Brown and Tramaine Brock. It's also noteworthy that Reggie Smith is listed at backup strong safety.
The 49ers did get Reggie Smith on the field in place of Madieu Williams in nickel situations, so the listing as second string strong safety could just be for balance on the depth chart. Later today we'll get our first practice participation report which will tell us a bit more about Dashon Goldson's status for Sunday. He had a knee injury that cost him practice and the game last week, so if he does actually practice that would be a step in the right direction for him.
