49ers vs. Cowboys Injury Report: Michael Crabtree, Dashon Goldson Limited In Practice

The San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys released their first practice participation reports for the week and there aren't a whole lot of surprises. There are pertinent injuries, but the players involved were all expected to be somewhat limited in practice this week.

The 49ers injury report includes safety Dashon Goldson and wide receiver Michael Crabtree as limited participants in practice. Goldson missed all of practice last week and was inactive for Sunday's game against the Seahawks. Crabtree was a participant in practice and got on the field against Seattle, but aggravated his foot injury midway through the game. He did not re-fracture the foot, but he did develop significant soreness. Both players wore pads in practice but did not do much in the way of team drills.

If Goldson is out again this Sunday, it will be interesting to see if Madieu Williams retains the starting job over Reggie Smith. The 49ers recent depth chart listed Smith as the backup strong safety, but he was on track the be the starting free safety before his injury. Additionally, Coach Harbaugh has indicated the two safety positions do remain somewhat interchangeable.

If Michael Crabtree can't play on Sunday, Kyle Williams would likely be active for the game. Some folks are rather high on Williams and it would be interesting to see how the team mixes him into the offensive mix. The team was limited in using wide receivers last week so it remains to be seen how exactly Williams would be used if active.

ON the Cowboys side of things, Dez Bryant, Terence Newman and Orlando Scandrick all sat out. Combined with the limited participation of CB Michael Jenkins, it's no surprise the team signed cornerback Frank Walker. Bryant injured his knee in the Cowboys loss to the Jets and is day-to-day with a bruise and hyperextension of the knee. He expects to play this week, but if he can't or if he is limited on Sunday that would be quite the boon for the 49ers secondary.
