Golden Nuggets: In Lieu Of Braylon Edwards, Vernon Davis Is Key For 49ers

So much for me talking about what is and isn't key when it comes to the 49ers' hopes ... I noted yesterday that Braylon Edwards was absolutely key, and now he's already been ruled out for week three. I think that hurts us a good bit, because Nate Clements can certainly handle the likes of Michael Crabtree and Josh Morgan, let alone Ted Ginn Jr. That's not necessarily a condemnation of our Niners in this upcoming game, it just means that my other point - the one about Vernon Davis being totally right - really takes on more importance. The offense will need to run through Davis this week, but does Jim Harbaugh trust Alex Smith enough to make it happen? Call me somewhat pessimistic.
