As the weekend nears, I find myself rather confident in our 49ers when they go into Cincinnati to take on the Bengals. I just see the offense working, providing Jim Harbaugh trusts in it and lets Alex Smith do his thing. That doesn't necessarily mean that Smith can make things happen any time, every time ... but it means he should be able to pass on, oh, I dunno, Nate Clements. We're all familiar with how porous a secondary with him in it can be, yes? Maybe Smith will look like a Pro Bowler against him ... but I'll just take "starting quarterback" if I have to.
