NFL Roster Cuts: San Francisco 49ers Maybe Considering Free Agent/Waiver Options?

The San Francisco 49ers are working through their roster cuts and will have official names sometime in the next half hour or so. In the meantime, much of the news coming out is via league sources, agents, players and so forth. Phillip Adams tweeted out "Blessed" but then Matt Maiocco indicated he has in fact been cut. I guess Adams is simply looking at the bigger picture. If he has in fact been cut, hopefully he is able to land elsewhere and make a career for himself in the league.

We're also getting a lot of information about practice squad candidates. Thus far, we've seen tweets indicating Chase Beeler, Joe Hastings, Cory Nelms and Konrad Reuland have all been cut but the team wants to sign them to the practice squad if they clear waivers.

Reuland is an interesting one given his battle for the 49ers third tight end spot. Nate Lawrie is the only other healthy option (minus Brian Jennings, of course). Does that mean it's Lawrie's job, or maybe the team is considering a free agent/waiver option at tight end. Even if Lawrie does not get cut today, most teams will make additional roster moves in the coming days once they see the players available on the waiver wire. It will be interesting to see what kind of transactions take place tomorrow and into the coming week.

Cuts after the jump.

The cuts so far include:

QB Josh McCown
WR Dominique Zeigler
Chris Maragos
WR Chris Hogan
WR Joe Hastings
CB Phillip Adams
TE Konrad Reuland
CB Cory Nelms
S Curtis Taylor
