Earlier this week I posted the announcers for Sunday's 49ers-Giants game, with Thom Brennaman set to cover for Joe Buck on FOX's number one team. Buck provides play-by-play for both baseball and football, and the MLB playoffs usually gets in the way of his October football duties.
We might have a change to that due to the Cardinas defeat of the Nationals last night. According to a variety of online reports, Joe Buck is planning on providing play-by-play for both the 49ers-Giants NFL game, and the Cardinals-Giants baseball game. The Cardinals win Friday night means the Giants have home field in the NLCS. Game 1 is scheduled for Sunday at 5:00 p.m. PT at AT&T Park. The 49ers-Giants game kicks off at 1:25pm PT at Candlestick Park.
I have seen some online reports that Buck will hop in a boat up the Bay to AT&T Park after the game. I don't know how accurate that is, but he will be needing some kind of alternative transportation. The 49ers game likely gets over sometime between 4:25 and 4:45pm PT, assuming there is no overtime. It is my understanding that first pitch of the baseball game is slated for approximately 5:07pm PT.
This is going to be a tight squeeze. I don't know if Buck might leave early, or what exactly will happen if the 49ers game drags on. Either way, it looks like those who dislike Buck are stuck with him.
