Monday Night Football open thread: Broncos vs. Chargers

We break down the Week 6 MNF matchup between the Denver Broncos and San Diego Chargers.

Derick E. Hingle-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Week 6 comes to a close tonight as the San Diego Chargers host the Denver Broncos. Although playoff positioning has plenty of time left, this game has some sizable early season implications. The Chargers enter the game 3-2, while the Broncos are sitting at 2-3. A Broncos win would even the standings at the top of the AFC West, and leave the AFC with only two teams holding records above .500. The AFC is NFL parity on full display. Heading into tonight's game, all four AFC East teams are sitting at 3-3, and we could have seven AFC teams at .500 by tomorrow.

Both teams are coming off a loss and will be looking to bounce back. The Broncos dropped a 31-21 decision to the Patriots while the Chargers blew a fourth quarter lead en route to a 31-24 loss to the Saints. Both teams have their question marks, although I think the Broncos have more concerns with Peyton Manning moving forward.

For me, this game is all about the fantasy implications. In my two primary leagues, I hold leads and am just looking to wrap things up. In one standard league, I lead by 45 points with my opponent sending out Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker. In my other league, I lead by six points with Ryan Mathews still to play, and my opponent sending out Malcom Floyd. Hoo-ray fantasy.
