The 49ers and Seahawks square off this Thursday in a huge divisional showdown, which means the game week is sped up. Given the three days between games, that means yesterday brought us the first practice participation report of the week. The 49ers conducted a basic walkthrough as opposed to a full practice, so the injuries are merely estimated. Had the 49ers undergone an actual practice, the result would have been Joe Staley sitting out, Mario Manningham limited and Brandon Jacobs, Andy Lee and Alex Smith listed as full participants.
The Staley DNP is not surprising given his concussion. Jim Harbaugh indicated that Staley met with a neurologist yesterday. Staley needs to be cleared by an independent neurologist before he will be allowed to even practice. Staley suffered a concussion last season against Arizona and was not cleared until the following Sunday before the team's MNF game with Pittsburgh. We don't know the full extent of this concussion, but I would be extremely surprised if Staley was able to go this Thursday.
The Manningham addition was a bit surprising. He was listed as having a shoulder issue but there have been no details beyond that. Coach Harbaugh will not meet with the media again this week so he likely won't have anything to add on that. Greg Roman and Vic Fangio will meet with the media later today so he might be asked about Manningham's injury.
