I'm filling in for James this morning, so you get a quicker version of the Nuggets without individual story descriptions. Hope you'll be able to survive!
The big story today was about Pete Carroll and Jim Harbaugh. On Friday, Jim Harbaugh expressed his displeasure with the Seahawks secondary strategy in engaging 49ers receivers. I need to go back and look at the film (doing that later today), but Coach Harbaugh had this to say on Friday:
Speaking of referees, a lot of plays on the outside where your receivers were kind of locked up with cornerbacks. How did you see that confrontation throughout the game going?
"Well, I wouldn't use the words ‘locked up.' There's another word I would use. But, we'll take that up with the officials in New York, and get their view of it. That's the only position that we can be in."
Pete Carroll was on a radio show today and mentioned these comments, and compared them in part to Jim Harbaugh's own complaints about Kevin Gilbride prior to 49ers-Giants. In that instance, Kevin Gilbride accused Justin Smith of getting away with holding quite a bit. Coach Harbaugh took exception to the comment and issued a press release deriding those statements.
This seems like a story that will be forgotten soon but brought back up in late December when the 49ers travel to Seattle to face the Seahawks. I'll have Jim Harbaugh's transcript later today, but in the meantime, feel free to sort through the Harbaugh-Carroll stories below.
